No doubt that edition has many faults, but it was the first in the field, and it is on the whole a creditable monument englidh the enterprise of the publisher, Munshi Newal Kishor, and of the liberality of the Maharajah of Patiala. The late Henry Beveridge, ICS took over two decades for the completion of the final volume of English translation of Akbar Nama On being assigned the task by the Asiatic Society of Bengal in the year he started his work.
